About the role
The
Mental Health Service Older Persons (MHSOP) is predominantly a community based
service with a 16 bed specialist inpatient unit located on the Kenepuru Hospital campus. They provide comprehensive assessment, treatment and
ongoing case management, working in partnership with clients, whanau, formal
and informal care givers and community agencies. The team works as a multi-disciplinary team covering Wellington, Porirua and Kapiti Coast areas & provides assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services for individuals
presenting with:
- Recent onset functional illness over the age of 65.
- Dementia with significant behavioural and psychological symptoms (BPSD)
We are seeking a Clinical Psychologist to join our service. You will be working across the continuum with both community and inpatient teams multi-disciplinary teams. You will hold responsibility for clinical psychology support to the team, particularly through individual & group-based assessment and treatment, consultation, supervision, formulation and assistance with programmes that enhance continuous quality improvement.
As part of a wider Clinical Psychology team, you will be responsible for specialist assessment, formulation and intervention with individual clients referred to the service, as well as providing guidance to other members of the MDT on psychosocial aspects of their care (e.g. risk assessment & management, behavioural support, supervision of individual therapies).

Skills & Experience
- NZ registered CLINICAL Psychologist with a current APC
- Proven experience in working with highly complex client presentations
- Experience/training in multiple therapeutic & assessment approaches particularly neuropsychological
- Stepped care/management of referrals for psychological therapies.
- Providing clinical supervision to others.
- Undertaking quality improvement initiatives relevant to clinical psychology

The Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS) spans three DHBs - Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Capital and Coast DHB’s and includes local, regional, and national services. The local MHAIDS services are provided from multiple sites within the 3DHB sub-region – greater Wellington, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa.
