Mental Health Professional - Psychogeriatric Service

The Psychogeriatric Service is predominantly a community based service with a 16 bed specialist inpatient unit located on the Kenepuru campus.  The purpose of the Psychogeriatric service is to provide comprehensive assessment and case management working interdisciplinary across CCDHB and wider community agencies including aged residential care sector.

The Psychogeriatric Service provides assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to people with a:

  • Recent onset functional illness over the age of 65.
  • Dementia at the extreme end with features of BPSD (behavioural and psychological  symptoms of Dementia).

We work as a multi-disciplinary team which covers Wellington, Poriria and Kapiti Coast area.  We are seeking a highly motivated clinician who has proven ability to work autonomously whilst also possessing a clear understanding of how to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.  The team consists of a Consultant Psychiatrist, nurses, a social worker and an occupational therapist supported by an administrator.  Referrals are received and allocated each morning and all first up assessments along with case reviews are taken to the weekly multi-disciplinary team meeting.


  • New Zealand Registration and a current practising certificate.
  • Five years mental health experience.
  • Two years psychogeriatric experience.
