Service: Te Whare Marie - Maori Mental Health

Te Whare Marie is a progressive service that offers specialist Māori Mental Health Services throughout the Wellington and Greater Wellington region.  The service offers effective and appropriate assessment, treatment and care management to tangata whaiora and whānau in a cultural setting, emphasising whanaungatanga, tikanga and Te Reo development. The service strives to meet the needs of tangata whaiora by providing holistic services that respect, value and include whānau beliefs, customs, language and culture.  It is part of the Mental Health, Addictions & Intellectual Disability Service.  The team is dynamic, incredibly friendly, supportive and close knit.

We are seeking an experienced and inspired Occupational Therapist for a position that encorporates core Child and Adolescent Mental Health clinical work AND Workfirst Occupational Therapy (employment and study specialist work), supporting tamariki and rangitahi with moderate to severe mental health issues.

As part of our specialist Māori Mental Health Services you will be helping youth to explore and achieve their career goals, and find employment or a study pathway. You will have a passion for working with tamariki, rangatahi and their whanau to support their wellbeing and to achieve their occupational goals.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Registered with the New Zealand Occupation Therapy Board
  • Sound Child and Adolescent mental health assessment and treatment skills
  • Minimum of two years’ experience.
  • Confident making effective decisions in challenging/complex situations.
