Social Worker - Te Haika


Location: Porirua

Contract: Permanent, Full time, Rostered & Rotating

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Te Haika is the referral and access management service and contact centre for the MentalHealth, Addictions and Intellectual Disability Directorate. It is an integral part of the wider mental health service and works closely with both clinical and non-clinical staff in these areas to ensure that the consumer/client experience exceeds expectations.  The team also have access to consumer consultants, a family advisor and cultural specialist services.  The key aim of Te Haika is to ensure appropriate access to mental health and addiction services.

DUTIES

The role of clinicians in the service is to:

  • Answer general enquiries from referrers, members of the public and community agencies regarding mental health issues
  • Provide advice, education and support for tangata whaiora/consumers, whanau family and caregivers.
  • Complete an initial screening assessment

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Registered with the New Zealand Social Worker Registration Board
  • Provide a culturally appropriate service which is responsive to the needs of tangata whaiora and consumers.
  • Minimum of 4 years Inpatient and Community MH experience
  • Good computer and interpersonal skills essential
  • Good clinical decision making skills
